After the elections on September 11, the center-right parties won a majority in parliament with the help of the Sweden Democrats. It has become an extremist party that has entered the political mainstream after years of being treated as a joke by other parties. Tobias Bill Strom, the parliamentary leader of the moderate party, has been appointed as the foreign minister.
The head of the Parliament’s defense committee, Paul Johnson, another moderate, was elected as the defense minister. Christian Democrat leader Ebba Bush became energy minister. 26-year-old Romina Pourmokhtari of the Liberals made history as Sweden’s youngest minister responsible for climate and environment. Elisabeth Svantesson, a representative of the moderate party on economic policy, was appointed as the finance minister.
