The annual Brahmotsavam of Sri Govinda Raja Swamy in Tirupati got off to a grand start on Friday. Scientifically started between 8.22 am to 8.49 am in Gemini Lagna. Chantings of Vedic scholars, Mangala instruments, devotees commemorating the name of Govinda, and a banner with a picture of Garuda at the waist were installed on the flag pole. After that, Srivari Asthanam was held in a grand manner.
Before that, Shri Govinda Raja Swami Dhwaja Patam, Chakra Talwar, and Parivara Deities were walking on the golden Tiruchi in the four Mada streets. It is believed that through this procession, the Lord will first oversee the arrangements for the Brahmotsavams. Later the priests performed Vishvaksena Aradhana, Vastu Homam, Garuda Linga Homam, Garuda Pratishta, and Raksha Bandhanam. Sridevi and Bhudevi hoisted the flag in the presence of Govinda Raja Swamy.
The purpose of flag hoisting is to invite the 18 Ganas and the three deities to the For Brahmotsava. TTD Sri Sri Sri Pedda Jeyar Swami, Sri Sri Sri Chinna Jeyar Swamy, Kankana Bhattar Sri AP Srinivasa Dixitulu, Agama Counselors Sitaramacharya and Mohana Rangacharya participated in this program.
